My Soulmate Is The One Who Made My Soul

I never knew I could love someone the way I love God. I am so self-focused at times, only paying attention to the anxieties and desires of my own heart. I’ve carried that selfishness into too many of my relationships. But God’s beauty and grace are so big that it doesn’t leave much room for my selfish demands or insecurities. With Him, I become unaware of my darkness because His light illuminates everything. He makes me see that beautiful things are happening all around me.

I write often about my relationship with God for the same reason anyone writes about someone they love. Love changes your heart. And when someone else is responsible for making you more passionately engaged in life, you feel overwhelmed with gratitude. You want to take that love and turn it into a song or a poem or a blog post– something that might plant a seed of inspiration in someone else’s life someday. You want everyone to feel the elation you feel.

I don’t expect you, whoever you are reading this, to have the same thoughts, opinions, or religious views as me. We each walk our own paths and I think everyone’s story is uniquely beautiful. My hope for you is that sometime throughout your journey, you find a love that makes you see the beauty around you. A love that makes you drink in the colors of fall and the taste of sunshine. A love that inspires you to fill a canvas with every hidden hope in your heart. Whether you find it in your Creator, or a person, or a painting, or a book; don’t stop until you find that love. You deserve to find something that makes you look outside yourself and realize that hope fills every corner of your life.

  1. Your love for God is so amazing! You are right! God is our ultimate soulmate. Sometimes I wonder what will happen if I never get married, but I don’t have to because even if I never find my earthly soulmate, I have a heavenly One.

    • I’m right there with you, Tay! I often wonder what will happen if life doesn’t work out the way I plan or expect… But then I remember that I am deeply loved, I always have been and I always will be. It’s comforting, isn’t it? We have a love that endures forever and a relationship we can always count on. :)

  2. This post really touched me Jaclyn. “Hope fills every corner of your life”, when I feel empty as sometimes I do I will remember your words. Thank you for this

  3. You have a true gift Jaclyn of expressing how great God’s gift is. Your writing is great. More though, I find it ABSOLUTELY necessary in today’s world.

  4. Hey Jaclyn,

This is such a beautiful post! It’s so wonderful to see you feeling better and more hopeful about your future. I see only wonderful things in store for you. You are full of love and light and I don’t think you even realize how powerful you are in this yet! *HUGS* Have a fabulous week girly!

    Much love,

  5. Beautifully written, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings. You left a comment on one of my blogs over a year ago ( I was going through my blog site tonight, looking at comments, just reading different things. But I am finding there are no accidental clicks tonight. I hadn’t even realized that I had clicked on the name of someone who subscribed to my blog and had commented once. When I looked back at my computer and saw that I had landed on his blog site, I learned that he died today of pancreatic cancer, the same cancer that took my mom. Wow. Then a few clicks later, I found your name on one of my blogs and clicked on it and came to here, finding peace in reading your post. There are times when I am sitting in church and I feel the love of God. I feel His presence. And I am so at peace, something that often eludes me. I have yet to truly heal from the loss of my mom. I miss her so much. But I know she’s at peace with the Lord and that one day I will see her again.

    Thank you. ~ Kathy

  6. Oh my goodness, hello! I just came across you blog today and you are wonderful. I see your love for the Lord at such a young age and it makes my heart glow! Thank you for your amazing blog, and being such a lover of our Bridegroom. We are so similar that way. I am really enjoying your blog….Have you ever read Henri Nouwen, or Thomas Merton? I can see you liking them! Take care and keep it up!
